Renovation and Closure Information
- Project
- USMA Library's Archives and Special Collections will relocate from Bartlett Hall North to Cullum Hall into a newly renovated space. We anticipate this facility to fully open in summer 2026.
- Occupancy in Cullum Hall was originally planned for 2024; however, construction and funding allocation delays have resulted in a longer timeline.
- Because the space currently occupied by Archives and Special Collections in Bartlett Hall North must be renovated for future tenants, the Library must vacate all space in Bartlett by Fall 2025.
- While some limited resources will be retained at West Point between Fall 2025 and Summer 2026, most will be relocated away from West Point in secure storage until they can safely move into Cullum Hall.
- The renovation of Cullum Hall is part of the Academy's Academic Building Upgrade Program.
- Services for the Public
- All services provided to the public using Archives and Special Collections resources will close effective Friday, May 30, 2025, until further notice. Once construction and move timelines are clarified, we will set a reopening date in 2026.
- Many resources for researching graduates are available through our digital collections. Assistance from library staff during this time will be very limited, given our own inability to access our collections and other staffing priorities related to the collection move.
- Services for the USMA Community
- Limited operations using pre-coordinated resources will resume to support the USMA curriculum on Monday, August 4, 2025, on the fourth floor of Jefferson Hall.
- On-demand reference assistance for the USMA community will be limited to resources available on hand and on a time available basis.
- Once construction and move timelines are clarified, we will set a full reopening date in Cullum Hall.
