USMA Faculty Guide to Credo Information Literacy - Core Modules

Why is Information Literacy Important?

Information Literacy (IL) refers to the ability to recognize the need for information and to find, analyze, and synthesize related material from books, articles, websites and more.

Per the Dean's AY 20 Guidance, information literacy is an "essential skill related to communication and character."  Working with your liaison librarian to implement Information Literacy modules into your courses is one way to fulfill the Dean's vision, as stated in Paragraph 4.b.(3): "Academic departments will work with the Library to review relevant core course syllabi and instruction plans to ensure critical information literacy skills are included."
