Resources for Persian Language Study

Databases - English and Persian

  • Press Reader - Provides thousands of newspapers every single day, extracting text and images and making articles instantly translatable, searchable, and easy to read on mobile devices. Coverage is typically the most recent 90 days.
  • EBSCOhost - Provides access to a wide range of databases, many with full text. Chose to search one database or search all (Limited articles in Persian).
  • JSTOR - Provides access to scholarly journals and books in a wide range of disciplines (Limited articles in Persian).

**When looking for articles in Persian, look for the filter or limiter link in the database

and narrow your search by language.**


Databases - English (for research about Persian-speaking nations) 

  • DTIC - Citations to unclassified documents in DTIC's Technical Reports Collection, many with full text. 
  • Janes - Source for information on defense, geopolitics, weapons systems, and security. Login with your westpoint.edu email address.
  • Policy File Index - Citations and abstracts, most with links to full text, for U.S. public policy research from over 350 think tanks, non-governmental organizations, research institutes, university centers, advocacy groups, and other entities.
  • Homeland Security Digital Library - Access to over 100,000 documents relating to homeland security policy, strategy, and organizational management.
  • MideastWire.com - This resource is an Internet-based news service established in 2005 in Beirut, Lebanon that employs a team of translators around the region to gather important stories from and about the Middle East. Currently covering news from all 22 Arab countries and the Arab media.

  • JSTOR's Interactive Research Tool - JSTOR's new Generative AI-powered interactive research tool can provide a new way to engage with content, find related sources, and explore additional avenues of inquiry.
